Importing ILR Data

To import ILR data you must be assigned to the Administrator or Import Manager role.

Using the FIS tool select your ILR xml file and export an MDB or, from 24/25 onwards, a CSV.zip file. For example, in FIS settings tick the 'Export to CSV' option on the FIS settings screen prior to export to produce the CSV zip file.

The FIS tool will then produce an MDB or CSV file named in a format similar to the image below

Note that data must be one of the two exports, MDB or CSV zip, the ILR xml file may not be imported directly into Strata. Also, please ensure when running the file through FIS, all derived data is calculated. The ESFA QAR methodology relies on funding data having been generated.

You will need 6 years worth of data (if available) up to and including the current academic year. For any given academic year, you can import all returns for that year, from R01 through to R14.

To import ILR data into Strata, click the 'Import/Export' menu item on the left panel and select ILR.

You will need to specify the academic year and return that you are uploading. Clicking Select file will allow you to browse for the relevant file you just exported from FIS. 

Once the file has been selected click Upload. Please do not navigate away from this page until the upload has been successful.

The uploaded file will then be asynchronously processed and you may continue using the system in the meantime. A Notification will appear in the top menu bar, once the data has imported and the calculations have completed.

The Import Queue tab displays the status of the files currently importing.

The Import History tab provides a list of all imported files, including; Upload Date, Uploader and Status. If any file fails to import, the Status will show as failed and the Log will given an indication of the error.
