Comparing performance

The Compare Performance feature is a dedicated area which allows performance comparisons against the latest published national average data. National average data is available for selection in reports created using the report editor or included within the system reports.  These national averages will automatically use the provider type your college is allocated to, for example GFEC & TC, Sixth Form, Other Public Funded.

A user can access the Compare Performance feature by either clicking on the Compare tile on the Homepage or selecting the Compare Performance option from the left hand menu panel. See screenshot below.

Provision Type

Allows you to select the performance measure to compare against; Education and Training or Apprenticeships.

Breakdown

Allows the user to specify the category to analyse for example, SSA1, Ethnicity, Gender, Standard.

Reporting Period

Specify the QAR reporting period. This relates to the cut off date used by each published QAR. For example QAR 1819 only includes data due to end by the 31st July 2019.

Year

Specify the reporting year to measure, either hybrid end or planned end year.

Comparison

This allows the user to specify Provider Type, Provider or Self.


Provider Type

If Provider Type has been selected in the Comparison dropdown users can select one of the following:

  • General FE and Tertiary College
  • Other Public Funded
  • Private Sector Public Funded
  • Schools
  • Sixth Form
  • Specialist
  • All Provider Types

Once selected you will see the latest available National Average data for that provider type.


Provider

If Provider has been selected in the dropdown then an individual provider can be selected to compare against. This data comes from the DfE published set.


Self

If Self has been selected then you can compare your selected Reporting Period rates on the left side with your own rates but from a differing Reporting Period you select on the right. This is especially useful towards the end of the academic year when you wish to see if you have exceeded performance versus last year.


Statistics Columns

Your Data 

  • Leaver - Leaver count
  • Ach% - achievement rate (achievers out of leavers)
  • Pass% - pass rate (achievers out of completers) - only available for E&T
  • Ret% - retention rate (completers out of leavers) - only available for E&T

Comparison Data 

  • Cmp Lvr - comparison leaver count
  • Cmp Ach% - comparison achievement rate (achievers out of leavers)
  • Diff Cmp Ach% - difference between your rate and the selected comparitor's rate. Red indicates your rate is below the comparitor for that area
